Great Televison Moments

Did you hear that ESPN will give Lebron James one hour of prime time Thursday night so he can tell the world where he will next be getting gzillions of dollars?  Are you kidding me?  And who do you suppose will sponsor that riveting hour?  And after he has made this earth shattering announcement what will occupy the next 55 minutes?

The announcers will breathlessly ask:  “What does this feel like Lebron?  Was this a difficult decision?  Will you add some cars to your fleet of rolling stock?  Have you thought about buying a small country?  Is it true that Ford is coming out with a Ford Lebron sports car?  Are you as happy as we are that ESPN will be airing your new reality show:  I’m Lebron and You’re Not?

I’m guessing that Tiger is probably pissed off.  I mean he only got half an hour for his epic apology, although all  the networks did interrupt  programming to carry it live.

Thank God for our sports heroes.  Whatever would we watch without them?  Gotta end this here, there’s a Real Housewives marathon starting.

Completely agree that this manufactured “news” event feels like overkill BUT I did read that whatever sponsor fees are raised will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs, so that at least is a good cause. You could probably skip the first 55 minutes of build-up/worship and tune in just for the last five minutes which is where of course King James will announce he is staying in Cleveland…

  2. And as a friend of mine said: This is probably even more important than the first moon landing, the cure of polio, Kennedy assassination and the Berlin wall coming down. But not quite as important as who the next Bachelor will be.
